Established in Beverly, MA in 1999, Cell Signaling Technology (CST) is a privately-owned company with over 400 employees worldwide. We are dedicated to providing innovative research tools that are used to help define mechanisms underlying cell function and disease. Since its inception, CST has become the world leader in the production of the highest quality activation-state and total protein antibodies utilized to expand knowledge of cell signaling pathways. Our mission is to deliver the world's highest quality research, diagnostic, and therapeutic products that accelerate biological understanding and enable personalized medicine.
Cell Signaling Technology's Commitments
Science
In addition to product development and production, CST is also actively engaged in the development of new technologies for signaling analysis as well as mechanistic cell biology research. CST scientists publish their findings in the highest quality peer-reviewed journals including: Nature Biotechnology, Cell, Journal of Immunology, and Journal of Biological Chemistry. Moreover, CST has built and continues to add functionality to our PhosphoSitePlus® bioinformatics resource (www.phosphosite.org), an NIH-funded, publicly accessible knowledge-base containing actively curated information about known and CST-discovered regulatory post-translational modifications on proteins from human, mouse, and related species.
Our Customers
Customer satisfaction is our highest priority. We are a company founded by scientists, with expert scientific staff dedicated to understanding your needs as a researcher. We are committed to developing only the highest quality products. Our rigorous validation process ensures the most credible and reproducible results with the least expenditure of your costly time, samples, and reagents.
Our Community
Education in Science — CST recognizes the importance and impact of high quality science education in local high schools. For many of us who work in biotechnology, the springboard to pursuing higher education degrees in the sciences was the result of great teachers using the appropriate resources to make science fun and engaging. CST supports local high school science departments by providing some of the necessary resources to enrich classroom teaching.
Internships — In addition, CST also runs a very successful summer internship program for high school and college students. Many of our summer interns eventually complete their science degrees and some become full-time scientists at CST.
Reinvesting into the community — The Corporate Donations Committee (CDC) at CST is a group of volunteer employees dedicated to helping organizations in need from our surrounding communities. The mission of the CDC is to share our success with nearby communities by distributing funds to local non-profit organizations and charities. Additional funding comes from our annual CST auction, the main CDC fundraising event. All proceeds from this event go directly to a deserving non-profit organization that performs outstanding work within our community. By holding this and other fundraising events, CST hopes to raise community awareness and involvement by CST and its employees. Monetary donations, as well as needed supplies and equipment, have been donated to multiple organizations.
Our Environment
CST is committed to environmental awareness and the fundamental inter-relationship between our biosphere and ourselves. Each year we use our company catalog, our annual calendar and the CST Nature Conservancy website to highlight a specific environmental theme and to promote the Earth’s beauty and wonder. In addition, we are proud to note that our headquarters/production facility has been a LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certified facility since 2006. Our extensive in-house recycling program and ongoing efforts to compost all cafeteria kitchenware at a local composting farm has made significant reductions to our overall waste. We are always looking for greener materials and more sensible methods for use in our labs. Our marketing and packaging materials are made from recycled paper that includes the highest percentage of post consumer waste.
The Arts
CST has always been a strong supporter of the arts. Our in-house art gallery displays the work of two regional artists for 6-week periods on a rotating basis. The Yi Tan Lecture Hall at CST exhibits art from our own creative and talented CST personnel. At the opening of each new exhibit, CST honors the current artists with a reception and a chance to talk about the work displayed in the gallery. Each summer the gallery is reserved for an Annual Summer Employee Show that highlights the tremendous creativity we have within our own community. A list of regional artists who have shown their work at CST can be seen here.
The Montserrat College of Art, located in downtown Beverly, is supported by CST during their Annual Artrageous Art Auction. This annual fundraiser supports student scholarships and financial assistance. Our corporate sponsorship, CST employee patronage at the auction, and our purchases from local artists all assist young artists while bringing beauty and creative expression to our company.
