Cell Signaling Technology Announces a Research Project with Bristol-Myers Squibb Company for the Evaluation of CST’s PhosphoScan® Platform for Kinase Inhibitor Proteomic Profiling

Danvers, MA, December 5th, 2006 – Cell Signaling Technology, Inc. (CST) announced today an agreement with Bristol-Myers Squibb Company (BMS) under which it will perform a phosphoproteomic research project employing its PhosphoScan® technology to provide BMS with cellular phospho-profiles of a small-molecule kinase inhibitor. The research project will enable BMS to evaluate CST’s PhosphoScan® technology. PhosphoScan® proteomics is a patent-pending technology that enables the discovery of cell and tissue phospho-profiles (Phospho-Signatures®), and the quantification of inhibitor-response profiles. The PhosphoScan® strategy involves immunoaffinity purification and tandem mass spectroscopy, and it was first described in the journal Nature Biotechnology, Rush J. et al, Nat. Biotechnol. 23, 94-101 (2005). The Phospho-Signatures® discovered with PhosphoScan® may enable the development of biomarker assays for use in the clinical development of a particular therapeutic kinase inhibitor.

“We are glad to be working with BMS and this research project is a great opportunity to demonstrate the utility of the PhosphoScan® technology,” said Christopher Bunker, CST’s Director of Business Development. “PhosphoScan® is a particularly powerful tool when used to quantify changes in cellular phospho-profiles resulting from targeted small molecule treatment.”

About Cell Signaling Technology, Inc. Cell Signaling Technology, Inc. has expertise and the market leadership position in the development and commercialization of phospho-specific antibodies and assays for kinase and pathway analysis. CST’s phospho-specific antibodies are validated in multiple assay platforms and are critical reagents in all stages of pharmaceutical drug discovery and development. PhosphoScan® leverages CST’s core capabilities in antibody development to deliver insight into cellular phosphorylation profiles enabling more efficient and informative kinase drug discovery and clinical development. CST is commercializing the PhosphoScan® technology through research alliances and licensing opportunities. Information on CST can be obtained at the Company’s website at www.cellsignal.com.
