Source / Purification

Polyclonal antibodies are produced by immunizing animals with a synthetic peptide corresponding to residues surrounding Val338 of human PTBP1 protein. Antibodies are purified by protein A and peptide affinity chromatography.

Background

PTBP1/hnRNP I belongs to the family of heterogeneous nuclear ribonucleoproteins (hnRNPs) that exert diverse functions in multiple aspects of RNA metabolism (1). PTBP1 is critical for regulating alternative splicing, IRES-mediated translation initiation, and increased stability of a variety of transcripts (2-4). Recently, PTBP1 was found to interact with PSMA3 from the 20S proteasome and is therefore implicated in the process of protein degradation (5,6). PTBP1 is ubiquitously expressed and shuttles between the nucleus and cytoplasm. Cellular localization of PTBP1 and its interactions with various factors determines the diversity of PTBP1 function (4).
