Source / Purification
Polyclonal antibodies are produced by immunizing animals with a synthetic peptide corresponding to residues surrounding Val47 of human arginase-1 protein. Antibodies are purified by protein A and peptide affinity chromatography.

Western blot analysis of extracts from 293 cells, mock transfected (-) or transfected with a construct expressing DDK-tagged full-length human arginase-1 (hArginase-1-DDK, +), using Arginase-1 Antibody (upper), DYKDDDDK Tag (9A3) Mouse mAb #8146 (middle), and β-Actin (D6A8) Rabbit mAb #8457 (lower).
Arginase-1 catalyzes the final step of the urea cycle converting L-arginine to L-ornithine (1). Recent studies show that intracellular pathogens induce the expression of arginase-1 in mouse macrophages through the Toll-like receptor (TLR) pathway; deletion of this enzyme in macrophages favors host survival (2). In a separate study, the expression of arginase-1 in macrophages was shown to inhibit Th2-dependent inflammation and fibrosis (3).
