Account Manager - Mid Atlantic

As a company of scientists for scientists, we have developed PTMScan®, a technology to discover protein post-translational modifications, PhosphoSitePlus®, an online resource for investigation of post-translational modifications, and XMT® technology, a proprietary method to develop exceptional monoclonal antibodies. We are fully committed to developing new research tools to help define the mechanisms underlying cell function and disease, thereby broadly accelerating progress in biomedical research and medicine.

CST is seeking an Account Manager to join our East Coast Regional Sales Team to successfully manage a territory consisting of government, academic, pharma and biotech accounts. This position will be based in the Mid-Atlantic and will support accounts in Maryland, Virginia and the Washington DC area.

The successful Account Manager will achieve or exceed revenue goals by employing a defined sales methodology for off-the-shelf products, bulk products, and eligible services with customers in the defined territory.


  • Develop and implement a strategic and tactical territory sales plan that results in increased customer contact and achieves above market growth rates and increased market share
  • Develop consultative relationships with customers to understand scientific details of customer's application, product requirements, and purchasing motivations in order to influence product choices
  • Continuously maintain and grow pipeline by identifying prospects, qualifying leads, creating proposals, and closing business
  • Work with technical staff to provide information or solutions to complex customer requests and inquiries
  • Work with the Custom Services Team to develop a final proposal for all bulk or custom products
  • Communicate information gathered during customer visits to sales management and marketing with feedback to include growing application areas, catalog product ideas, market intelligence, and general customer feedback


  • BS degree in Biology, Immunology, Biochemistry or a related life sciences field
  • 3+ years of industry experience either in the lab or sales positions
  • 2+ years of selling experience within the Life Sciences Market to customers in industry and/or academia in the DC area is preferred
  • Ability to handle materials that weigh up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to travel up to 25%

  • Prior sales training
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Strong project management skills
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple projects at one time
  • Knowledge of basic financial principles
