Application Performance Engineer

We are fully committed to developing new research tools to help define the mechanisms underlying cell function and disease, thereby broadly accelerating progress in biomedical research and medicine.

We are seeking an experienced Application Performance Engineer to support Cell Signaling Technology’s Commercial System platforms. The Performance Engineer will be responsible for defining, building and managing an application performance program to ensure functional, performance, and security measures are developed, applied, and monitored for globally utilized on-premise and cloud hosted applications. The Engineer will proactively monitor and optimize performance bottlenecks, JVM metrics, perform troubleshooting and root cause analysis, address performance and security issues, build and implement automated testing, provide expertise regarding cloud hosting scalability and performance.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop performance test plans and defines approaches for end-to-end performance
  • Ensure high-level of quality by validating performance, stability, scalability, and reliability in our application solutions
  • Develop, design, and document an improved performance, monitoring, and test automation framework
  • Collaborate with system engineers and development teams to effectively test the system under test
  • Initiate and facilitate design reviews and perform code inspections leading to optimizations
  • Continuously evaluate ways to improve application performance and reliability
  • Create detailed documentation and provide presentations and training on automation framework/tools/tests developed

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors in Computer Science or equivalent experience
  • 4+ years software performance experience, test automation development, and end to end testing
  • 3+ years of experience with load testing and testing tools, such as LoadRunner, Load UI and JMeter and monitoring tools (Dynatrace, Nagios, Solarwinds)
  • 3+ years of experience with the web services testing
  • 2+ years experience with synthetic monitoring tools (Selenium)
  • 2+ years experience with defect tracking and automation tools
  • Experience with proactive monitoring of customer facing applications and internal business applications
  • Experience with Database monitoring and detective monitoring
  • Experience working in an agile development environment with strong emphasis on performance and QA, as well as best practices for development, processes, code management, and build environments is preferred
