Background

FGF-10 is a member of the large and diverse fibroblast growth factor (FGF) family of peptide growth factors. FGF-10 functions as a signaling molecule that is involved in many important processes (1,2). It binds to receptor FGFR2b and is essential as a signaling growth factor for mesenchymal-to-epithelial transition (3). FGF-10 is involved in limb development and morphogenesis of multiple organs, such as lung, skin, ear, and salivary gland (3,4). Knockout mice for FGF-10 show severe phenotypes with complete truncation of the fore- and hindlimbs and they die shortly after birth due to impaired lung development (4).

Endotoxin

Endotoxin levels are less than or equal to 1 EU / 1 μg hFGF-10.

Purity

A greater than or equal to 95% purity was determined by SDS-PAGE.

Source / Purification

Recombinant human FGF-10 was expressed in E. coli and is supplied in a lyophilized form.

Bioactivity

The bioactivity of recombinant hFGF-10 was determined in a 4MBr-5 cell proliferation assay. The ED50 of each lot is less than or equal to 200 ng/mL.
