Product Usage Information

Application Dilution
Immunofluorescence (Immunocytochemistry) 1:1000
Flow Cytometry (Fixed/Permeabilized) 1:200

Storage

Supplied in PBS, 100 ug/ml BSA and 0.1% sodium azide. Store at 4 C. Do not aliquot the antibody.

Specificity / Sensitivity

Myc-Tag Antibody (Fluorescein Conjugate) detects Myc-tagged recombinant proteins and is a useful tool for subcellular protein localization. The antibody is conjugated to fluorescein via amino-terminal amines and the epsilon amino groups on lysine. Fluorescein absorbs visible blue light at wavelength 490 nm and emits visible green light at 520 nm.

Species Reactivity:

Human, Rat, Monkey

Source / Purification

Polyclonal antibodies are produced by immunizing animals with a synthetic peptide corresponding to residues 410-419 of human c-Myc (EQKLISEEDL). Antibodies are purified by protein A and peptide affinity chromatography.

Background

Epitope tags are useful for the labeling and detection of proteins using immunoblotting, immunoprecipitation, and immunostaining techniques. Because of their small size, they are unlikely to affect the tagged protein’s biochemical properties.

The Myc epitope tag is widely used to detect expression of recombinant proteins in bacteria, yeast, insect and mammalian cell systems (1).

Species Reactivity

Species reactivity is determined by testing in at least one approved application (e.g., western blot).
