CST Grant Application Deadline: Annually on May 1st
Our mission is to ensure that we fund the most deserving and wide-reaching non-profit organizations in the pursuit of education in science and technology.
- We welcome science teachers, departments, or administrators from public elementary, middle, and high schools as well as other non-profit organizations that focus on STEAM learning to apply for an EIS grant. Schools or organizations located in or serving the following Massachusetts communities will be prioritized for funding: Beverly, Danvers, Salem, Gloucester, Hamilton, Ipswich, Manchester, Rockport, Peabody, Topsfield, Wenham, Essex, Lynn, and Lawrence. Requests from outside these communities will be considered based on need. Charter schools will be considered; however, private schools will not be considered for funding.
- In your application, please describe how the grant will enhance the current curriculum of your science department. Please also state how many classrooms/students will benefit from the funding and whether or not the funding will have a lasting benefit for your school, as priority will be given to grants that fulfill both criteria. In addition, an itemized list of the use of your proposed funding is required. This may allow for partial funding of your request by CST.
- In alignment with CST values, proposals that focus on environmental science, biology, and chemistry may be prioritized for funding.
- Applicants will be notified of decisions by the end of August of the year in which the application is submitted.
Grant Application Guidelines and Project Description Criteria
- Only U.S. based non-profit organizations will be considered. Please include a copy of your IRS Form 501(c)3 as proof of non-profit status (required).
- Applications supporting groups or events that openly discriminate against others will not be reviewed or receive funding.
- All grant recipients will be expected to submit an end of project report with photos, or give a project presentation within one year of the application deadline.
- CST grants range from $500 to $10,000 and are project based.
- When rating applications, CST grant committees consider the following:
- The number of individuals who will be impacted through funding of the project and/or materials provided
- Whether the project will have a lasting impact or require repeated funding
- Whether project completion can be accomplished with grant funds or require additional funds
- The clarity and completeness of the application
- CST grant committees favor funding clearly-defined projects, events, or purchase of specific goods or services rather than salaries. However, we also understand that non-profit projects require staff members, educators, and guides. We review salaries and organizational expenses on a case-by-case basis.
- On your application, please be sure to provide a brief summary of why the project is being undertaken, who immediately benefits from the project, a detailed grant proposal, and an itemized budget. You may attach any additional material that you feel will be useful for the committee, such as notification of other funding or grants you have secured, but please refrain from including extraneous materials.
Environmental Grants
- Environmental stewardship is a core value that guides business decisions and the employee culture at CST. The Environmental Grants provide funding for projects aimed at ecosystem protection, wildlife research, and creative ways to engage communities in outdoor recreation and conservation.
- The 2023 grant cycle will focus on funding environmental conservation efforts and public engagement focused on improving local biodiversity, pollution and waste in our environment, and healthy ecosystems.

- We encourage applications from both rural and urban areas.
- All organizations will be considered; however, organizations registered in the state of Massachusetts, or specifically on the North Shore of Boston, will be favored over organizations in other geographic areas.
- Applicants will be notified of decisions by the end of July of the year in which the application was submitted.
Community Grants
- CST recognizes that inflationary pressures continue to pose serious challenges to our communities. Our CGC has committed to fund causes in 2023 which support those most affected by this issue.
- CST will give highest priority to causes including food and housing insecurities, causes surrounding underserved children, victims of domestic violence and also educational initiatives to improve the well-being of communities and contribute in stopping the cycle of poverty. We encourage charities local to CST headquarters to apply (Beverly, Danvers, Salem, Gloucester, Hamilton, Ipswich, Manchester, Rockport, Peabody, Topsfield, Wenham, Essex, Lawrence, and Lynn, Massachusetts), but will accept grant applications from non-profit organizations throughout the New England, US region.
