    Product Information

    Product Description

The rapid protocol (RP) PathScan® RP GST-Tag Sandwich ELISA Kit is a solid phase sandwich enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) that detects proteins containing a GST-Tag in a reduced assay time of 1.5 hours. Incubation of cell lysates and detection antibody on the coated microwell plate forms a sandwich with GST tagged proteins in a single step. The plate is then extensively washed and TMB reagent is added for signal development. The magnitude of absorbance for the developed color is proportional to the quantity of protein containing a GST-Tag. Learn more about your ELISA kit options here.

*Antibodies in this kit are custom formulations specific to kit.

    Protocol

    Specificity / Sensitivity

The PathScan® RP GST-Tag Sandwich ELISA Kit detects proteins containing a glutathione S-transferase (GST) tag. The kit sensitivity is shown in Figure 1. This kit detects proteins from the indicated species, as determined through in-house testing, but may also detect homologous proteins from other species.

    Background

Epitope tags are useful for the labeling and detection of proteins using immunoblotting, immunoprecipitation, and immunostaining techniques. Because of their small size, they are unlikely to affect the tagged protein’s biochemical properties.

Glutathione S-transferase (GST) is a widely used fusion partner, since it provides both an easily detectable Tag and a simple purification process with little effect on the biological function of the protein of interest. Numerous vectors containing GST-Tag have been developed for both prokaryotic and eukaryotic systems over the past decade (1-3).
