GUCY2C Antibodies
Target Information
a transmembrane guanylyl cyclase enzyme with a tyrosine kinse domain. A receptor for the E. coli heat-stable enterotoxin (hsE) and the paracrine hormones guanylin and uroguanylin in the intestine. Regulates intestinal cell proliferation. Converts guanosine-5'-triphosphate to cyclic guanosine monophosphate (cGMP). Elevated intracellular cGMP modulates intestinal fluid-ion homeostasis, differentiation of crypt enterocytes, and inhibition of colonic cell proliferation. Mice lacking GUCY2C display increased cell proliferation in colonic crypts. It functions as a tumor suppressor - its loss disrupts intestinal homeostasis and promotes tumorigenesis. A homotrimeric receptor that interacts via its C-terminal region with PDZK2. Interacts with the lectin chaperone VIP36. The pseudokinase domains of guanylyl cyclases have been reported to allosterically increase the affinity of their catalytic domains for substrate. Belongs to the adenylyl cyclase class-4/guanylyl cyclase family. Note: This description may include information from UniProtKB.
