HLA-G Antibodies
Target Information
a type 1 transmembrane protein and non-classical major histocompatibility molecule involved in immune regulatory processes at the maternal-fetal interface. It plays a role in maternal tolerance of the fetus by mediating protection from the deleterious effects of natural killer cells, cytotoxic T-lymphocytes, macrophages and mononuclear cells. In complex with B2M/beta-2 microglobulin, presents a limited repertoire of nonamer self-peptides derived from intracellular proteins including histones and ribosomal proteins. May play a role in balancing tolerance and antiviral-immunity at maternal-fetal interface by keeping in check the effector functions of NK, CD8+ T cells and B cells. Through interaction with the inhibitory receptor CD160 on endothelial cells may control angiogenesis in immune privileged sites. Expressed in adult eye. Expressed in immune cell subsets including monocytes, myeloid and plasmacytoid dendritic cells and regulatory T cells. Secreted by follicular dendritic cells and follicular helper T cells. Belongs to the MHC class I family. 7 alternatively spliced human isoforms have been reported. Isoforms 5-7 lack the transmembrane segment. Note: This description may include information from UniProtKB.
