    Western Blotting 1:1000

    Storage

Supplied in 10 mM sodium HEPES (pH 7.5), 150 mM NaCl, 100 µg/mL BSA, 50% glycerol, and less than 0.02% sodium azide. Store at –20°C. Do not aliquot the antibody.

    Protocol

    Specificity / Sensitivity

ACAA2 (F4Y9U) Rabbit mAb recognizes endogenous levels of total ACAA2 protein. This antibody does not cross-react with ACAA1 protein.

    Species Reactivity:

    Human, Mouse

    Source / Purification

Monoclonal antibody is produced by immunizing animals with a synthetic peptide corresponding to residues surrounding Val219 of human ACAA2 protein.

    Background

Acetyl-CoA acyltransferase 2 (ACAA2), also known as medium-chain 3-ketoacyl-CoA thiolase, is a mitochondrial enzyme that participates in the catalyzation of the last step in the fatty acid β-oxidation pathway (1,2). Studies identified a short-chain carbon circuit at the C4 node of fatty acid oxidation (FAO) where reverse flux of acetyl-CoA derived from pyruvate through ACAA2 produces free CoA and NAD+, therefore promoting lipid tolerance and redox stability in heart mitochondria (3).
