    Source / Purification

Monoclonal antibody is produced by immunizing animals with a synthetic peptide corresponding to residues surrounding Gly245 of human BARX1 protein.

    Background

BARX homeobox 1 (BARX1) is a transcription factor (TF) that was first isolated from mouse embryos and identified to function as a repressive TF by directly binding to the NCAM promoter and inhibiting its transcription (1). BARX1 also plays a key role in cellular differentiation and cytoskeletal remodeling in various tissues such as stomach, intestine, and spleen (2-4). Several studies have also established a key role for this TF in the proliferation and metastasis of many tumors. Namely, BARX1 was shown to promote the proliferation of oesophageal adenocarcinoma and renal cell carcinoma (5,6) and was identified as one of the top ten oncogenic TFs that are critical in non-small cell lung cancer (7). Moreover, silencing of BARX1 in endometrial carcinoma cells was shown to suppress ERK/MEK signaling pathway activity and reduce cell viability (8).
