    Source / Purification

Monoclonal antibody is produced by immunizing animals with a synthetic peptide corresponding to residues surrounding Pro489 of human BRDT protein.

    Background

Testis-specific bromodomain-containing protein (BRDT) is a member of the bromodomains and extra terminal (BET) family of proteins, which also includes BRD2, BRD3, and BRD4 (1-3).  BET family proteins contain two tandem bromodomains and an extra terminal (ET) domain, and bind acetyl lysine residues (3). BRDT is expressed in the testes and is essential for male germ cell differentiation, acting as a master regulator of meiotic divisions and post-meiotic genome repackaging (2,4). JQ1 treatment of BRDT has been explored as a potential male contraceptive, as JQ1-treated mice exhibit reduced spermatozoa number and motility without affecting hormone levels (5).

    Alternate Names

    BRD6; BRDT; bromodomain testis associated; Bromodomain testis-specific protein; bromodomain, testis-specific; Cancer/testis antigen 9; CT9; RING3-like protein; SPGF21; testis-specific bromodomain protein
