    Mouse, Rat

    Source / Purification

Monoclonal antibody is produced by immunizing animals with a synthetic peptide corresponding to residues surrounding Ala1938 of mouse Cav2.2/CACNA1B protein.

    Background

Voltage-sensitive calcium channels (VSCCs) mediate the entry of calcium ions into excitable cells. VSCCs are involved in a variety of calcium-dependent processes, including muscle contraction, hormone or neurotransmitter release, gene expression, cell motility, cell division, and cell death. Calcium channel, voltage-dependent, N type, alpha 1B subunit (CACNA1B), or Cav2.2, is encoded by the CACNA1B gene (1,2).  In the brain, Cav2.2 has been implicated in synaptic plasticity (3). Interestingly, altered Cav2.2 may contribute to some neurodegenerative diseases, such as Huntington’s disease (4).
