    Background

CD1C (T-cell surface glycoprotein CD1c) is a member of the CD1 family of major histocompatibility complex (MHC) class I-like proteins whose function is to present lipid-based antigens to T cells (1-5). CD1C is a single-pass type I membrane protein found on monocyte-derived dendritic cells, Langerhans cells, and a subset of B cells (1-5). CD1C is commonly used as a marker for myeloid dendritic cells (mDCs), which are the major population of dendritic cells in human blood, tissues, and lymphoid organs (3-5).
