    Protocol

    Specificity / Sensitivity

ESAM (F9D9P) Rabbit mAb recognizes endogenous levels of total ESAM protein. Staining of uncertain specificity was observed in multinucleated giant cells of mouse spleen and non-specific staining was observed in Renca syngeneic tumor cells by immunohistochemistry.

    Species Reactivity:

    Mouse, Rat

    Source / Purification

Monoclonal antibody is produced by immunizing animals with a recombinant protein specific to N-terminal mouse ESAM protein. This antibody recognizes residues surrounding Asn40 of mouse ESAM protein.

    Background

Endothelial cell-selective adhesion molecule (ESAM) is an immunoglobulin-like transmembrane protein expressed by endothelial cells and activated platelets (1-4). ESAM is associated with supporting the structural integrity of endothelial cell tight junctions (1-4). ESAM also plays a role in immune responses, aiding in the adhesion of leukocytes to the endothelial cells of blood vessels (4). In mice, expression levels of ESAM are used to differentiate subsets of dendritic cells (5,6).
