    Product Information

    Product Description

This Cell Signaling Technology® antibody retains the antigen-binding Fab regions of the original parent host sequence from which it is engineered. This antibody is expected to exhibit the same species cross-reactivity as mCherry (E5D8F) Rabbit mAb #43590.

    Product Usage Information

    Application Dilution
    Immunofluorescence (Frozen) 1:50 - 1:200
    Immunofluorescence (Immunocytochemistry) 1:100 - 1:400

    Storage

Supplied in 10 mM sodium HEPES (pH 7.5), 150 mM NaCl, 100 µg/mL BSA, 50% glycerol, and less than 0.02% sodium azide. Store at –20°C. Do not aliquot the antibody.

    Protocol

    Specificity / Sensitivity

mCherry (E5D8F) Mouse Chimeric Monoclonal Antibody detects mCherry-tagged proteins (either N-terminal tagged or C-terminal tagged) exogenously expressed in cells. Please note that the mCherry tags add approximately 28kDa to the molecular weight of the fusion protein.

    Source / Purification

This recombinant chimeric antibody is engineered from mCherry (E5D8F) Rabbit mAb #43590 according to animal-free protocols. The chimeric antibody retains its antigen-binding Fab regions from the original rabbit monoclonal antibody but contains a mouse-derived Fc domain. When multiplexing, Fc-directed rabbit secondaries are required to detect rabbit-host primary antibodies.

The parent antibody, mCherry (E5D8F) Rabbit mAb #43590, is produced by immunizing animals with a full-length recombinant mCherry protein.

    Background

Epitope tags are useful for the labeling and detection of proteins using immunoblotting, immunoprecipitation, and immunostaining techniques. Because of their small size, they are unlikely to affect the tagged protein’s biochemical properties.

mCherry is a monomeric, fluorescent, photostable red dye that was isolated from and further engineered from the Discosoma sea anemone (1). Its peak fluorescent excitation is at 587 nm and emission 610 nm (1).

    Alternate Names

    mCherry; MCherry fluorescent protein
