    Protocol

    Specificity / Sensitivity

NFI-B (E5L7U) Rabbit mAb recognizes endogenous levels of total NFI-B protein. Based on antigen sequence, the antibody is predicted to detect isoform 1 and isoforms 4-6 of NFI-B. Based on sequence homology, this antibody is not predicted to cross-react with other NFI family members. Species cross-reactivity for IF-IC is human only.

    Species Reactivity:

    Human, Mouse, Rat

    Source / Purification

Monoclonal antibody is produced by immunizing animals with a synthetic peptide corresponding to residues surrounding Pro404 of human NFI-B protein.

    Background

NFI-B belongs to the nuclear factor I (NFI) family of site-specific transcription factors that regulate viral DNA replication and expression of various genes (1,2). The NFI family is composed of four members in vertebrates: NFI-A, NFI-B, NFI-C, and NFI-X, all of which are critical in the development of multiple organ systems in mice and humans (3). Research studies have demonstrated that NFI-B plays a crucial role in different aspects of tumor development, acting as an oncogene or tumor suppressor in different types of tumors and participating in tumor-associated fusion gene formation (4-7). Moreover, NFI-B has been shown to promote epithelial-mesenchymal transition and metastatic ability of cancer cells through a number of mechanisms, including upregulating SNAI1 expression in colorectal cancer (8), stabilizing chromatin accessibility in small cell lung cancer (9), and modulating the ZEB1 axis in melanoma (10).
