    Protocol

    Specificity / Sensitivity

PCGF3 (F3X9C) Rabbit mAb recognizes endogenous levels of total PCGF3 protein. This antibody does not cross-react with PCGF5 protein.

    Species Reactivity:

    Human, Mouse, Rat, Monkey

    Source / Purification

Monoclonal antibody is produced by immunizing animals with a synthetic peptide corresponding to residues surrounding Pro64 of human PCGF3 protein.

    Background

Polycomb group RING finger homologs (PCGF1-6) are essential proteins for the assembly of the polycomb repressive complex 1 (PRC1) group of complexes. RING1A/B and a unique PCGF protein make up the catalytic core of PRC1 to ubiquitinate histone H2A. Differences in binding specificities give PRC1 complexes unique functions depending on which PCGF is included (1-3). PCGF3 is closely related to PCGF5 and recruits PRC1 and PRC2 in response to Xist expression (4). PCGF3/5 can act as transcriptional activators in embryonic stem cells, where they interact with Tex10, a pluripotency and super-enhancer regulator (5).
