    Human, Mouse, Rat

    Source / Purification

Monoclonal antibody is produced by immunizing animals with a synthetic peptide corresponding to residues surrounding Gly141 of human PSPH protein.

    Background

Serine biosynthesis involves sequential reactions catalyzed by several metabolic enzymes, including phosphoserine phosphatase (PSPH). PSPH catalyzes the dephosphorylation of phospho-L-serine to L-serine, the last irreversible step in serine biosynthesis (1-3). Studies show that PSPH is overexpressed in melanoma samples, and this overexpression is essential for tumor growth and metastasis. PSPH knockdown in melanoma cells leads to increased 2-hydroxyglutarate (2-HG) levels. 2-HG suppresses melanoma cell growth (3).
