    Protocol

    Specificity / Sensitivity

RBM25 (F9X4K) Rabbit mAb recognizes endogenous levels of total RBM25 protein. This antibody detects a 150 kDa band of unknown origin.

    Species Reactivity:

    Human, Mouse, Rat, Monkey

    Source / Purification

Monoclonal antibody is produced by immunizing animals with a synthetic peptide corresponding to residues surrounding Pro225 of human RBM25 protein.

    Background

RBM25 is an RNA-binding protein involved in alternative splicing of a large number of transcripts (1,2). RBM25 contributes to splicing by binding splicing factor SRSF2, a process that is blocked by the methylation of RBM25 on Lys77 (2). In various cancer contexts, RBM25 can act as a tumor suppressor. It is capable of selecting for a proapoptotic variant of BCL-x, and can control the Mac inhibitor BIN1 (1,3). In other cancer types, such as hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), high RBM25 expression has been shown to be associated with poor prognosis (4). RBM25 is also involved in cardiac processes by abnormally splicing SCN5A, truncating it to a form associated with sudden cardiac failure (5,6). In Alzheimer’s disease (AD), RBM25 can form aggregates with the U1 small nuclear ribonucleoprotein 70 kDa (U1-70K) and localize to neurofibrillary Tau aggregates (7).
