A scientific resource for the EVH1 protein domain containing information on structure, function, and binding to a proline-rich motif to regulate actin dynamics.
The 48 kDa band represents VASP phosphorylated at Ser239 and the 50 kDa band represents VASP phosphorylated at both Ser239 and Ser157. The hyper-phosphorylation that occurs when both serines are phosphorylated leads to a shift in the molecular weight. If you would like more information, please refer to Aizawa et al. (2003) Circ Res 93, 406-13 (PMID: 12919948; https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/12919948).

Angiogenesis, the formation of new blood vessels from pre-existing blood vessels, plays a key role in tumorigenesis.
Hypoxia causes cellular stress and alters normal metabolic activity. These pathways allow cells to survive and recover during bouts of low oxygen.
We currently have 6 total p53 antibodies reactive to human p53. All of these antibodies except #2524 and #30313 were produced by using the full-length human p53 as the immunogen. We currently have 1 additional total p53 antibody that binds to rodent p53, p53 (D2H9O) Rabbit mAb #32532. Please see below the comments about the epitopes of specific p53 antibodies. The p53 (1C12) Mouse mAb #2524 was produced by immunizing animals with a synthetic peptide corresponding to residues surrounding Ser20 of human p53.Our mapping experiments for the p53 (7F5) Rabbit mAb #2527 have found that the epitope lies within the first 50 amino acids of the protein.Past mapping experiments of the p53 Antibody #9282 lots 3 and 4 have found several p53 regions that showed reactivity to this antibody. The most reactive residues lie within the first 100 amino acids of human p53, however, some reactivity was seen with sequences that lie within the DNA binding domain (aa102-292, UniProt ID P04637-1). Later, addi…
There's a need for new methods to diagnose and treat pancreatic cancer. Biomarkers like CA 19-9 and MUC5AC are being explored as prognosis indicators.
The regulation of ER stress and autophagy during viral infection is an important factor in the balance of virus and host survival.
Tamar Aprahamian is an interesting study in the professional opportunities available for young scientists. She's worked in academia, industry, and most recently has co-founded a company of science writers called JetPub. She has been a contributor to our blog and was nice enough to share her story.
Antibodies that recognize peptide motifs in the phosphorylated state are valuable research tools in western blotting. Learn how to use them in this post.
