    Source / Purification

Monoclonal antibody is produced by immunizing animals with a synthetic peptide corresponding to residues surrounding His188 of human CD62E/E-selectin protein.

    Background

CD62E, also known as E-selectin, is a glycoprotein expressed on the surface of endothelial cells in response to inflammatory signals (1). Lipopolysaccharides (LPS), viral infections, and inflammatory cytokines such as tumor necrosis factor alpha and interleukin-1 beta upregulate CD62E expression (2-5). CD162/PSGL-1 and CD44 are major ligands of CD62E (6). Both are expressed on leukocytes, and interactions between CD62E and CD162/PSGL-1 and CD44 mediate slow rolling of leukocytes, enabling extravasation of leukocytes to sites of inflammation (7,8). In neutrophils, engagement of CD62E has also been shown to activate NLRP3, resulting in the release of S100A8/S100A9 to aid in the recruitment of other neutrophils (8).
