    Protocol

    Specificity / Sensitivity

BASP1 (F9A5E) Rabbit Monoclonal Antibody recognizes endogenous levels of total BASP1 protein. Non-specific staining was observed in cardiac and skeletal muscle by immunohistochemistry.

    Species Reactivity:

    Human

    Source / Purification

Monoclonal antibody is produced by immunizing animals with a synthetic peptide corresponding to residues near the carboxy terminus of human BASP1 protein.

    Background

Brain acid soluble protein 1 (BASP1) was originally isolated from brain extracts. It is abundant in nerve terminals during brain development and is implicated in neurite outgrowth, maturation of the actin cytoskeleton, organization of the plasma, and axon regeneration (1-3). Actin dynamics regulation and presynaptic vesicle cycling at axon terminals by BASP1 facilitate axon regeneration (2). Furthermore, the BASP1 gene is downregulated in many human tumor cell lines, particularly in those derived from leukemias (4).
