Mouse IL-3 Recombinant Protein: Image 1
Serial dilutions of Mouse IL-3 Recombinant Protein were added to M-NFS-60 cells. Cell proliferation was measured and the linear portion of the curve was used to calculate the ED50.
Mouse IL-3 Recombinant Protein: Image 2
The purity of Mouse IL-3 Recombinant Protein was determined by SDS-PAGE of 1 µg reduced (+) and non-reduced (-) recombinant mIL-3 and staining with Coomassie Blue.

Storage

Mouse IL-3 Recombinant Protein is supplied as lyophilized material that is very stable at -20°C. It is recommended to reconstitute with sterile water at a concentration of 0.1 mg/mL which can be further diluted in aqueous solutions as needed. Addition of a carrier protein (0.1% HSA or BSA) is recommended for long-term storage.

Product Description

MW (kDa) 15.2
Purity A greater than or equal to 95% purity was determined by SDS-PAGE.
Endotoxin Endotoxin levels are less than or equal to 1 EU / 1 μg mIL-3.
Activity The bioactivity of recombinant mIL-3 was determined in an M-NFS-60 cell proliferation assay. The ED50 of each lot is less than or equal to 250 pg/mL.

Source / Purification

Recombinant mouse IL-3 was expressed in E. coli and is supplied in a lyophilized form.

Background

Interleukin-3 (IL-3) is produced by T cells, mast cells, and eosinophils (1). Target cells include hematopoietic progenitors, neutrophils, macrophages, mast cells, eosinophils, lymphoid, and erythroid cells (1). IL-3 supports growth and differentiation and is used as a media additive to support culture of many cell types (1). The IL-3 receptor is a heterodimer of the IL-3 specific α-chain and the common β-chain, βc, which is also used by GM-CSF and IL-5. (1). Binding of IL-3 can also involve substitution of the βc by a βIL-3-chain that appears to be specific for IL-3 (1,2). Binding of IL-3 to its cognate receptor(s) induces activation of Jak2, phosphorylation of multiple Stats (1,3,5,6), and the PI3K/Akt pathway (1). IL-3 may play an important role in the development of airway inflammation associated with asthma (3-5).
