    Product Description

    The rapid protocol (RP) PathScan® RP Phospho-Androgen Receptor (Ser258) Sandwich ELISA Kit is a solid phase sandwich enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) that detects endogenous levels of androgen receptor protein phosphorylated at Ser258 in a reduced assay time of 1.5 hours. Incubation of cell lysates and detection antibody on the coated microwell plate forms a sandwich with phospho-androgen receptor (Ser258) in a single step. The plate is then extensively washed and TMB reagent is added for signal development. The magnitude of absorbance for the developed color is proportional to the quantity of phospho-androgen receptor (Ser258). Learn more about all of your ELISA kit options here.

    Specificity / Sensitivity

    The PathScan® RP Phospho-Androgen Receptor (Ser258) Sandwich ELISA Kit detects endogenous levels of androgen receptor protein phosphorylated at Ser258. The kit sensitivity is shown in Figure 1. This kit detects proteins from the indicated species, as determined through in-house testing, but may also detect homologous proteins from other species.

    Background

    Androgen receptor (AR), a zinc finger transcription factor belonging to the nuclear receptor superfamily, is activated by phosphorylation and dimerization upon ligand binding (1). This promotes nuclear localization and binding of AR to androgen response elements in androgen target genes. Research studies have shown that AR plays a crucial role in several stages of male development and the progression of prostate cancer (2,3).
    Upon ligand binding, AR becomes phosphorylated on many residues, including Ser258 (4).
