    Protocol

    Specificity / Sensitivity

ACAT2 Antibody recognizes endogenous levels of total ACAT2 protein.

    Species Reactivity:

    Human, Mouse, Rat

    Source / Purification

Polyclonal antibodies are produced by immunizing animals with a synthetic peptide corresponding to residues surrounding Val167 of human ACAT2 protein. Antibodies are purified by protein A and peptide affinity chromatography.

    Background

Acetyl-CoA acetyltransferase 2 (ACAT2), also known as cytosolic acetoacetyl-CoA thiolase, plays a role in regulating lipid metabolism (1). It catalyzes the synthesis of acetoacetyl-CoA from two acetyl-CoA molecules, which is later converted into steroids (2).

    Alternate Names

    ACAT2; acetoacetyl Coenzyme A thiolase; acetyl-CoA acetyltransferase 2; Acetyl-CoA acetyltransferase, cytosolic; Acetyl-CoA transferase-like protein; acetyl-Coenzyme A acetyltransferase 2; ACTL; Cytosolic acetoacetyl-CoA thiolase; THIC
