    Background

    APMAP (Adipocyte plasma membrane-associated protein, DD16, C20orf3) is a glycosyl-type II transmembrane protein mainly distributed in the plasma membrane and endoplasmic reticulum of adipocytes (1-5). APMAP is induced during adipocyte differentiation and has been reported to have roles in fat differentiation, cancer development, viral infections, and Alzheimer's disease (3,4). APMAP has been identified as a factor that impedes antibody-dependent cellular phagocytosis (ADCP), with loss of APMAP leading to slower tumor growth and sensitizing of cancer cells to phagocytosis (5).
