    Protocol

    Specificity / Sensitivity

ERAP1 (E6X1P) Rabbit mAb recognizes endogenous levels of total ERAP1 protein. This antibody does not cross-react with ERAP2 protein.

    Species Reactivity:

    Human

    Source / Purification

Monoclonal antibody is produced by immunizing animals with a synthetic peptide corresponding to residues surrounding Gly840 of human ERAP1 protein.

    Background

Endoplasmic reticulum aminopeptidase 1 (ERAP1) is an IFN-γ inducible peptidase that is inserted into the endoplasmic reticulum (ER) membrane as a type II transmembrane protein (1). Research studies have shown that ERAP1 influences the adaptive branch of the immune system by facilitating the maturation of peptide fragments that are loaded onto MHC class I alleles, which are then presented for recognition by T lymphocytes (2,3). Defects in ERAP1 are associated with human disease. Multiple single nucleotide polymorphisms have been identified within ERAP1, which alter the enzymatic activity of the protein product and, in conjunction with HLA-B27, confer susceptibility to ankylosing spondylitis, an inflammatory disease that affects joints (4,5).
