    Protocol

    Specificity / Sensitivity

METTL7B (F6K2W) Rabbit Monoclonal Antibody recognizes endogenous levels of total METTL7B protein. This antibody does not cross-react with METTL7A protein.

    Species Reactivity:

    Human, Monkey

    Source / Purification

Monoclonal antibody is produced by immunizing animals with a synthetic peptide corresponding to residues surrounding Pro236 of human METTL7B protein.

    Background

Methyltransferase-like protein 7B (METTL7B), also known as thiol methyltransferase 1B (TMT1B), is part of the METTL family of methyltransferases. METTL7B catalyzes the transfer of a methyl group from S-adenosyl-L-methionine (AdoMet) to alkyl thiol molecules (1,2). METTL7B is found in the Golgi and endoplasmic reticulum, where it is involved in the inhibition of harmful lipid accumulation (2-5). High expression of METTL7B protein has been shown in various cancer types. In gliomas, METTL7B inhibits EGR1 expression to drive progression (6,7). METTL7B is also highly expressed in lung cancers and can drive tumorigenesis (8,9). In acute lymphoblastic leukemia, METTL7B enzymatic activity has been shown to be a critical component in glycolysis, affecting cell growth (10).
