Myogenin (E9A1S) Rabbit mAb recognizes endogenous levels of total myogenin protein.

    Species Reactivity:

    Human, Mouse

The antigen sequence used to produce this antibody shares 100% sequence homology with the species listed here, but reactivity has not been tested or confirmed to work by CST. Use of this product with these species is not covered under our Product Performance Guarantee.

Species predicted to react based on 100% sequence homology:

    Rat

    Source / Purification

Monoclonal antibody is produced by immunizing animals with a synthetic peptide corresponding to residues surrounding Leu146 of human myogenin protein.

    Background

Myogenin (MYOG), also called myogenic factor 4 (Myf-4), is a transcriptional regulatory protein that belongs to the myogenic basic helix-loop-helix protein family, which also includes MyoD, Myf-5, and MRF4 (1). It is involved in skeletal muscle development and differentiation and is a marker for myogenesis (1,2). Detection of aberrant myogenin expression is also useful in pathology as an indicator of rhabdomyosarcoma (RMS) (2,3).
