    Protocol

    Specificity / Sensitivity

NeuroD6/NeuroD2 (F2Z7U) Rabbit Monoclonal Antibody recognizes endogenous levels of total NeuroD6 and NeuroD2 proteins.

    Species Reactivity:

    Human, Mouse, Rat

    Source / Purification

Monoclonal antibody is produced by immunizing animals with a synthetic peptide corresponding to residues near the carboxy terminus of human NeuroD6/NeuroD2 protein.

    Background

The Neurogenic differentiation factor (NeuroD) family is a subfamily of proneural basic helix-loop-helix (bHLH) transcription factors consisting of NeuroD1, NeuroD2, NeuroD4, and NeuroD6. These factors act as key regulators of neuronal specification, differentiation, and cell fate across multiple regions of the central nervous system (1). Displaying highly overlapping expression during cortical development, NeuroD2 and NeuroD6 are critical for cortical projection neuron development, where they contribute to axonal pathfinding and fasciculation (1,2). NeuroD6 has been shown to regulate reactive oxygen species (ROS) homoeostasis, promoting enhanced tolerance to oxidative stress (3). Furthermore, NeuroD6 expression is reduced in patients with Alzheimer’s disease, suggesting that its loss may contribute to disease progression and that the protein could act as a potential disease biomarker (4).
