    Species Reactivity:

    Human, Mouse, Rat, Monkey

    Source / Purification

Monoclonal antibody is produced by immunizing animals with a synthetic peptide corresponding to residues surrounding Pro202 of human PRPF6 protein.

    Background

PRPF6 is a critical spliceosomal protein that forms a bridge between the U5 and U4/U6 small nuclear ribonucleoproteins (snRNPs) (1,2). It is phosphorylated by PRP4 kinase along with another PRPF protein of similar function, PRPF31 (3,4). The phosphorylation of these two proteins is a critical step in the stable U4/U5/U6 tri-snRNP complex (5). PRPF6 mutations have been described in retinitis pigmentosa, an autosomal-dominant disease that leads to retinal degeneration (6). PRPF6 has been implicated in cancer through its control of alternative splicing of key oncogenic isoforms, such as the ZAK kinase (7). PRPF6 has also been shown to interact with the androgen receptor (AR) and the AR splice variant 7 (AR-V7), thereby increasing AR transcriptional activity (8).
