    Protocol

    Specificity / Sensitivity

Rad51C (F6D1F) Rabbit Monoclonal Antibody recognizes endogenous levels of total Rad51C protein. This antibody detects approximately 145 and greater than 200 kDa proteins of unknown identity in some cell lines.

    Species Reactivity:

    Human

    Source / Purification

Monoclonal antibody is produced by immunizing animals with a synthetic peptide corresponding to residues surrounding Ala76 of human Rad51C protein.

    Background

Rad51C is one of five Rad51 paralogs that form two distinct complexes, BCDX2 (Rad51B, Rad51C, Rad51D, and XRCC2) and CX3 (Rad51C and XRCC3) (1). Along with Rad51, these complexes are crucial in the repair of DNA double-strand breaks through homologous recombination (2), and in the response to DNA replication stress (3,4). Germline mutations in homologous recombination-associated genes, including those encoding Rad51C and Rad51D, lead to increased susceptibility to breast, ovarian, prostate, and pancreatic cancer (5). Rad51C deficiency in cancer cells contributes to sensitivity to PARP inhibition (6), while high Rad51C expression is indicative of poor prognosis and therapy resistance in non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) (7).
