    Protocol

    Specificity / Sensitivity

RBM4 Antibody recognizes endogenous levels of total RBM4 protein. This antibody also detects RBM4B protein.

    Species Reactivity:

    Human, Monkey

    Source / Purification

Polyclonal antibodies are produced by immunizing animals with a synthetic peptide corresponding to residues surrounding Pro317 of human RBM4 protein. Antibodies are purified by peptide affinity chromatography.

    Background

RBM4 functions as an RNA-binding protein and precursor mRNA splicing factor that antagonizes activity of PTBP1-mediated splicing (1-4). Upon phosphorylation at Ser309, RBM4 accumulates in stress granules and suppresses cap-dependent translation through eIF4A (3). Exon skipping of MEF2C by RBM4 has been shown to play a key role in the differentiation of brown adipocytes (5). The splicing activities of RBM4 seem to suppress tumorigenesis in the context of multiple cancer types (5-8).
