    Source / Purification

Monoclonal antibody is produced by immunizing animals with recombinant protein specific to the amino terminus of human RBPMS protein.

    Background

RNA-binding protein with multiple splicing (RBPMS) is a member of the RNA recognition motif (RRM) family of proteins responsible for regulating gene expression and pre-mRNA alternative splicing events. RBPMS contains a single RRM domain at its amino terminus, which preferentially binds to tandem CAC trinucleotide motifs on target RNA (1). This protein is expressed in various tissues, with the highest levels detected in organs rich in smooth muscle, such as the heart, bladder, and gastrointestinal tract (2). RBPMS plays a critical role in normal heart development and cardiomyocyte binucleation by regulating RNA alternative splicing, and its loss or disruption results in contractility defects and dilated cardiomyopathy (3,4). Additionally, RBPMS serves as a selective marker for retinal ganglion cells (5).
