    Source / Purification

Monoclonal antibody is produced by immunizing animals with a synthetic peptide corresponding to residues surrounding Ala287 of human RPS2 protein.

    Background

Ribosomal protein 2 (RPS2), also known as uS5, is part of the 40S ribonucleoprotein complex and plays a critical role in RNA biology. Within the ribosomal structure, RPS2 helps orient mRNA for codon reading in the ribosome A site and additionally supports translation fidelity (1-3). RPS2 also forms complexes outside the ribosome with protein arginine N-methyltransferase 3 (PRMT3), which methylates RPS2 to support ribosome biogenesis (4,5). RPS2 knockout has been shown to be lethal, while knockdown of the protein severely inhibits 40S ribosomal subunit production (3).
