    Human, Mouse, Rat

    Source / Purification

Monoclonal antibody is produced by immunizing animals with a synthetic peptide corresponding to residues surrounding Val322 of human septin-7 protein.

    Background

Septins are a conserved family of cytoskeletal GTP-binding proteins. Septin-7 (SEPT7) is expressed in all tissue types, but shows high expression in brain tissue (1). It is essential for neuronal development, particularly dendritic spine formation, maturation, and overall dendrite branching; it acts as a scaffold for synaptic stability by organizing postsynaptic density proteins (2,3). Furthermore, it modulates calcium entry through Orai channels in neurons, influencing intracellular calcium levels that affect cell proliferation and differentiation (4). Septin-7 is implicated in Alzheimer’s disease (AD), potentially affecting synaptic function and neurodegeneration (5).
