    Protocol

    Specificity / Sensitivity

SNRNP70 (F5M8O) Rabbit Monoclonal Antibody recognizes endogenous levels of total SNRNP70 protein.

    Species Reactivity:

    Human, Mouse, Rat, Monkey

    Source / Purification

Monoclonal antibody is produced by immunizing animals with a synthetic peptide corresponding to residues surrounding Leu431 of human SNRNP70 protein.

    Background

SNRNP70 is a core component of the U1 small nuclear ribonucleoprotein particle in the spliceosome (1-3). SNRNP70 plays a critical role in pre-mRNA splicing by binding to 5’ splice sites and inhibiting poly(A) polymerase (4). This binding is enhanced by auxiliary factors, such as SF2/ASF and other serine/arginine-rich family members (5,6). SNRNP70 is a major autoantigen in systemic lupus erythematosus along with other U1-associated proteins (7-9). In addition, SNRNP70 has been shown to be aberrantly cleaved in half of Alzheimer’s cases, causing aggregation and neuronal degeneration (10,11).
