Can I purify my antibody supplied in glycerol to use for conjugation purposes?

Our unconjugated antibodies are formulated with glycerol and BSA and are intended for use based on the optimal performance of the antibody in the approved applications and species listed on the datasheet. Given the presence of glycerol and BSA, these antibodies are not typically ideal for conjugation purposes as purification is cost-prohibitive and typically yields a very low concentration since much of the antibody is lost during the purification process. Therefore, we recommend customers avoid purifying glycerol-formulated antibodies.

As an alternative, many of the antibodies available on our website are also available in a PBS formulation which is glycerol-free and BSA-free (carrier-free). These custom formulations may also be supplied at a higher concentration that is intended for conjugation and custom assay development purposes. We also offer custom conjugation services for many of our antibodies with common fluorophores or dyes. If you are interested in a custom formulation or conjugation, please let me know and I will have your Account Manager reach out with additional information.
