The 140 kDa band detected by our ATP2A2/SERCA2 Antibody #4388 appears to be consistent with SUMOylation based on Kho, C et al. (2011) Nature 477, 601-5 (PMID: 21900893, https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/21900893). This paper shows that 1) SUMOylation shifts the molecular weight of ATP2A2/SERCA2 from around 100 kDa to around 150 kDa and 2) SUMOylation of ATP2A2/SERCA2 occurs under basal conditions. There are other possible post-translational modifications of ATP2A2/SERCA2 (e.g., phosphorylation, glutathiolation, and nitration), but only SUMOylation would be expected to shift the molecular weight from 110 to 140 kDa.
